With millions of eyeballs glued to the astonishing comeback of the Patriots, it was a good time for a lot of new movie trailers to drop.

Without further ado, here they are:

Logan

Logan, to a haunting version of ‘Amazing Grace’ – Genuinely raises the hairs. This is one hell of a trailer, backing up everything we’ve seen of this film so far. I think this is probably unmissable now:

Transformers: The Last Knight

From how to really stick together a trailer, to how not to. I have three Transformers trailers and none of them make any sense whatsoever. Lots of expensive CGI floating about the place, Mark Whalberg looking confused and, this time, no knights in armour, castle or dragons.

Nope, I haven’t a clue.

Ghost in the Shell

Nothing new here IMO. Still a interesting trailer and a great manga.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

It’s everyone’s favourite space saving, alien bashing do-gooders and this time it’s really action-packed. This little trailer shows that a lot of the movie seems to take place in deep space, virtually everyone is back from the original, and that zany, misplaced, knockabout humour is present and correct. In short, it’s a blast.

Baywatch

This is getting heavily promo’ed, so someone somewhere thinks this is going to be a hit. It is funny, and the chemistry between Ephron and The Rock is great. I still can’t see how this thing holds together yet.

Pirates of the Caribbean 5 (“Salazar’s Revenge” in the UK)

This, Johnny Cash soundtrack not withstanding, looks rubbish. Remember that by part 3 the supernatural element was pushed to the max and no-one had a clue what was going on? This appears to have turned that up to 11.

One to miss?

The Fate of the Furious

F8 appears to say an big FU to logic, physics and sanity. I like the Stath squaring up to The Rock, with the Brit channeling some of his over-the-top persona from Spy. All the same, this looks… iffy. probably, like XXX, utterly critic-proof though.

A Cure for Wellness

This still looks brilliantly unsettling body horror. Not, I must admit, my favourite type of film, but the craft on show looks like it’s well worth a look.

Life

More horror with Jake Gyllenhall, Ryan Reynolds and Rebecca Ferguson discovering life in outerspace. It looks like the shiny SFX of gravity with the sci-fi horrors of Alien. This is not new ground and it has been trodden by many a bad movie before. Let’s see how this pans out.
