So this is an odd story. Superman IV, the fourth of Christopher Reeve’s Superman films, was a fairly shambolic affair when it released, but I did not know that Milton Keynes played a major part in standing in for, er, New York.
The production was struggling for budget from the off and, to save a few quid, they looked around for something local to Elstree Studios, that looked modern, and slick.
Milton Keynes was a new town, barely ten years old at the time, so it became a stand in for New York. Milton Keynes has no building over four stories tall.
Anyway, this dude has gone back and recreated all of the scenes filmed in MK, just 30 years later. Cool.
